Contact Lens Examinations

We are here to assist you in achieving the best vision you can hope to achieve. Contact lenses are the top choice for vision correction among those eligible to wear them. Despite how common and convenient they are, it is important to keep in mind that contact lenses are Class II Medical Devices that require proper care. To help ensure your eye and vision health, a professional examination by an eye care professional is required prior to dispensing to ensure contacts are an appropriate choice for you. The reason for this is because contact lenses are in regular, direct contact with your eyes. In addition, a current, valid prescription and regular eye examinations are necessary to be sure your eyes continue to tolerate the lenses.

Contact Lenses

Vision Correction – Therapeutic – Cosmetic

With daily care and regular professional exams, contact lenses can be a great choice for clear, convenient vision for life. For your convenience, Family Eye Care Center offers a wide selection of popular contact lens options, care solutions, cases, and accessories. Whether you are interested in contact lenses for vision correction, therapeutic, or cosmetic use, we are here for you.

Professional Contact Lens Fitting Is Important

Contact lenses must be carefully fitted to be sure they provide optimal vision correction, but that is not all. It is essential that precise measurements are taken of several unique aspects of your eyes to ensure the lenses are properly sized for comfort and eye health, as well. Do not place your vision at risk. Only order contact lens, including cosmetic lenses, from your eye care professional.

What Is A Comprehensive Contact Lens Examination

At Family Eye Care Center, we offer a comprehensive contact lens examination. This is tailored to meet each patient’s personal eye health and vision requirements. All contact lens exams include a standard internal and external eye examination and review of ongoing eye health, evaluation of your existing contact lens prescription (as relevant), screening for focus and eye teaming, any additional testing indicated, as well as a consultation to help ensure we provide the best contact lenses for you and that you have the information you need to be a successful contact lens wearer. If you are a new contact wearer, switching to a new brand or type of lens, or otherwise experiencing an issue which indicates the need, your examination may also include a fitting and other relevant services.

Contact Lens Care Tips

Your sight is precious. Protect it by caring for your eyes and contact lenses properly by following all instructions provided, as well as these quick tips from Family Eye Care Center.

Wash, rinse, and dry your hands thoroughly before handling your contact lenses.

Be sure to follow your recommended lens cleaning and wearing schedule.

Rub and rinse your contact lenses daily, or as directed.

Your contact lenses should only be cleaned and rinsed with the multipurpose solution or agent recommended by your eye care professional.

Do not allow your contacts to come in contact with any water, including tap, bottled, sterile, distilled, lake, river, or ocean water.

Sterile saline solutions must not be used. These are not acceptable as a substitute for multi-purpose solutions.

Every time you remove your contacts, discard all leftover solution.

Do not “top off” the solution in your lens case.

Never reuse any type of lens solution.

Every time you remove your lenses from the case, clean, rinse, and air dry the case as directed.

Replace your contact lens case every 3 months or as directed by your eye care professional.

If you experience any symptoms, including irritation, redness, vision changes, pain, itching, discomfort, or signs of infection, contact The Family Eyecare Center, 304.636.9111.
